Introducing Google Allo, a smart messaging app that helps you say more and do more. Express yourself better with stickers, doodles, and HUGE emojis & text. Allo also brings you the Google Assistant, preview edition. Download on Android (https://goo.gl/JZnxSr) or iPhone (https://goo.gl/lRK0JD).

Here are just a few ways your Google Assistant can help in Google Allo:

  • Make plans with friends and You can also research travel destinations, flights and hotels together with friends.
  • Get the latest info on everything from news, weather, traffic, sports, or your upcoming flights status.
  • Ask your Assistant to share that funny YouTube video or play games with friends

But is the ability to converse with what might be the smartest of all smart bots — and to have it participate in your conversations when you summon it — enough to get you to switch away from whatever you're currently using? After a few days of using it, my answer for the moment is no.

Even if it does work, it won’t be the real draw for Allo. That job falls to the Google Assistant, ostensibly the reason Allo exists in the first place.
